Shutdown notice

On 2019-07-03, Weatherzone staff member Todd Baker posted a shutdown announcement on the forums[1]:

Morning All,

This post is to notify everyone that this forum will close down very soon.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this forum over the past 18 years and in particular the moderators. Without their hard work we would have had to shut down a long time ago.

The forum will become read-only on the 29th of July and it will shut down on the 1st of November.

Thanks again for all your contribution and hopefully the community will be able to find a new home.

Thanks

Todd Baker Weatherzone

An ArchiveBot job was launched for the forums after they were made read-only: job:4oigaedmcp8jc1c34xnci1vjf. This job recursed virtually endlessly due to how the forum software (UBB.threads 7.5.7) works: threads are identified by and accessible through the ID of any post inside them. Due to corresponding links appearing throughout the site, the job was attempting to retrieve every thread as many times as it contained posts.

User:JustAnotherArchivist grabbed the entire forums with qwarc on 2019-10-28 using only the canonical thread URLs (i.e. using the post ID of the initial post). This archive can be found at forum.weatherzone.com.au_20191028. It contains only the thread HTML pages. The images and outlinks discovered during this archival were retrieved by ArchiveBot jobs job:8rnbhkcil5w47n0sepivigpb3 and job:drri644pa3a30peyykwdtxqkj, respectively.
