While Twaud.io has shut of downloading officially, we can still rescue the last 20 clips from each user. You can help! (Not if you're running Windows, unfortunately.)
Check out the code from the Git repository. Then run the script
twaudiorip-runner.sh to start downloading user profiles. The script will contact the central tracker to get usernames.
To stop the script gracefully,
touch STOP in the script's working directory.
If, for some reason, you can only run things on Windows, you can use the Windows version of the script. It uses the Windows Script Host, which is installed on any recent version of Windows. You do need to install the Windows version of Wget.
Download the script twaudiorip.js and save it to a directory where you want to store the downloaded files. Open a command prompt in the script's directory and run
cscript twaudiorip.js. The script will now start running.
If you want to stop the script, create a file
STOP.txt in the script's directory. The script will then stop after the current user.
On June 11, 2011, Twaud.io suddenly announced that they will be closing:
We're very sorry to announce that twaud.io will be closing down.
For the next couple of months you can log in and download your own audio but record and upload is now disabled. However, we've found a great alternative for you in SoundCloud. On SoundCloud you can upload or record audio to share on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr or even privately. They also have a couple of great apps for iPhone and Android. Thanks for using twaud.io.
Without any advance notice, they have shut down the download and play functions for all clips hosted on the service, which means that any link that was published on Twitter is now dead.
